Reasons Behind Excessive Head Perspiration

Sweating or perspiration is one of the critical functions of the body, which helps it to stay cool. In most cases, it is considered healthy to sweat, but a few individuals experience frequent and unjustifiable sweating. Exorbitant sweating may affect some parts of the body like palms, soles, armpits, etc.,or can be generalized ( felt across the body ). Unjustifiable head sweating is called as ‘cranial hyperhidrosis’, which isn’t as common as other types.

The following are some of the reasons behind unnecessary head sweating.

Thyroid Disorders

Thyroid glands produce hormones, which are used by the body for varied purposes. Any variation in the quantity of hormone produced by these glands can create several problems. Deficiency of thyroid hormones is named hypothyroidism, while overproduction of these hormones is named as hyperthyroidism. One of the common indicators of hyperthyroidism is frequent and unjustifiable sweating. An overactive thyroid can increase the internal body temperature, which in turn causes excessive head sweating.

Agitation or Stress

Anxiety has an extremely important role to play so far as excessive head sweating is concerned. It’s a known fact that many folks tend to sweat more in conditions of anxiety and stress, but in the event of some people, the sweating is more focused on the head and is also more copious. People impacted by unrestrained head sweating claim that the symptoms are irritated by stressful events.

Menopause

Hot flashes in the phase of menopause is a common problem. Hot flashes are accompanied by intense heat on the higher body, fast heart beat and heavy sweating. The force of hot flashes and sweating varies from one lady to another, but those who are affected with cranial hyperhidrosis may experience unrestrained sweating on their head.

Other things

Aside from the above said causes, there are more factors which can end up in inappropriate head sweating. A heart attack can be accompanied by excessive head sweating along with chest agony and other symptoms. Diabetic patients might also experience this condition. One more reason for excessive head sweating is the frequent skipping of meals, which results in low blood sugar.
